Using examples of bad etiquette, roleplay, a powerpoint presentation, and involving the students into the lesson by making it fun.

A powerpoint about digital etiquette
A screencast of how people misuse the internet
A screencast of bad digital etiquette when talking to people.
A projector/ Interactive whiteboard, for presenting

Description of the Action


Teach a lesson to Grade 4 students, including:
Explaining What digital etiquette is,
Why we use digital etiquette,
How we should act online,
What we should do when our friends do not behave properly online
The consequences of bad digital etiquette
Q&A session + video of BAD etiquette, and screencast about digital etiquette.

Impact of the Action


WE definitely enjoyed teaching the kids, they were so much fun. We could tell they enjoyed it too, because they were constantly laughing, making jokes, and commenting on what we said. We also liked the fact that the grade 4's were so involved, always asking questions, always making sure they understood everything before we went on. We really tried to make it fun, and it seemed as they enjoyed it very much! And they learned quite a bit too! (considering that they all cyber-bully) We hit a rough spot when we were talking about plagarism, and how its not fair to copy someone elses work. This is because they are kids, and they hadnt learnt about sourcing and citing yet, so we had to teach them to get permission from their source before using it. But that was what they listened to the most, because they knew nothing about it. Its nice to know that we made a difference!
